Many New Yorkers are mourning the closure of Cinnamon Snail, the city`s most popular food truck and reigning Vendy Award winner, after it was forced to shut off its engine earlier this month.

Hundreds of fans lined up for more than two hours in frigid temperatures to try one last habanero apricot grilled tempeh with smoked chili coconut bacon. Their love and sadness for the food truck`s delicacies echoed across social media.

Street Vendors leaders decries deteriorating situation on the ground

Street Vendor leaders from all the Municipal Bodies

New Delhi - India: Calling the Municipal Bodies "shameless", Street Vendor leaders from all the Municipal Bodies today expressed grave concern about the continued harassment and eviction of markets in Delhi. Intensity of issuing challans and confiscation of goods has increased considerably across all the Municipal Bodies despite orders issued by the new Government. The earlier circulars issued by the Municipal Bodies do not matter to their officers. Police have also been confiscating goods notably under lost and found category. Organisations of Street vendors have to resort to going courts again and again.

It must be mentioned that in just one month of New Government coming to power, four markets have been evicted and NASVI has to struggle for restoration of each of these markets - these are a) Lajpat Nagar b) 40 Futa road c) Ranjit Nagar d) Rohini e) Vasant Kunj f) Baljit Nagar

Moldova-Business-Sind holds Social Solidarity Economy Workshop

All the participants who attended the Social Solidarity WorkshopOn February 25-28, 2015, at the sanatorium Bucuria-Sind Ltd., the Federation of Trade Unions Moldova-business-sind held a workshop on “Social Solidarity Economy”. The activity was also attended by representatives of the trade union of workers of trade, public catering, consumer cooperatives, hotel and restaurant services SindLUCAS (IUF affiliate).

Thirty two representatives of primary trade union organisations from 12 districts, including ATO Gagaziya and Chisinau and Belts cities also attended.This activity was conducted within the FLOW project, which covers 10 countries where StreetNet has its affiliates.

StreetNet International

StreetNet International is an alliance of street vendors. It was launched in Durban, South Africa, in November 2002.

Membership-based organizations (unions, co-operatives or associations) directly organizing street vendors, market vendors and/or hawkers among their members, are entitled to affiliate to StreetNet International.

The aim of StreetNet is to promote the exchange of information and ideas on critical issues facing street vendors, market vendors and hawkers (i.e. mobile vendors) and on practical organizing and advocacy strategies
