International Labour Conference of the ILO - May 2012

StreetNet will be represented at the 101st session of the International Labour Conference of the ILO in Geneva this year by a 4-person delegation who will participate in the Committee on Social Protection Floors for Social Justice and a Fair Equality from 30 May to 8 June 2012. The purpose of the StreetNet delegation will be to contribute to the adoption of a truly inclusive Recommendation with direct input from workers in the street vendorsí sector of the informal economy.

StreetNet International

StreetNet International is an alliance of street vendors. It was launched in Durban, South Africa, in November 2002.

Membership-based organizations (unions, co-operatives or associations) directly organizing street vendors, market vendors and/or hawkers among their members, are entitled to affiliate to StreetNet International.

The aim of StreetNet is to promote the exchange of information and ideas on critical issues facing street vendors, market vendors and hawkers (i.e. mobile vendors) and on practical organizing and advocacy strategies
