CUT (SP), the São Paulo region of the Brazil trade union centre, StreetNet affiliate SINTEIN, and CONTRACS CUT (union of service and commercial workers) held a seminar on informal economy workers on 9th and 10th November 2005. The seminar was the first of its kind to focus on the informal economy and brought formal and informal trade union structures together to discuss issues of common concern.

• Zambia Alliance Building Preparatory Project (March 2005)

The AZIEA and ZULAWU Alliance Building Preparatory Project was initiated by StreetNet and PSI to bring formal and informal workers in the public service together to look at how to have collaborative working partnerships and to build alliances in addressing their common problems.

• African Region Alliances needed between municipal workers and vendors (September 2003) 

Local government and municipal workers and street vendor association representatives met to discuss their common work problems and possible areas of alliance at a one-day workshop in Kenya hosted by PSI on 21^st September 2003.
